LUDIC GAMES AND DISTRIBUTION OF BOOKS ON THE ANNIVERSARY OF “SURFING THE WAVES OF READING”
SEVERAL EMPLOYEES TOOK PART IN THE COMMEMORATION
The commemoration of three years of the program “Surfing on the Waves of Reading” transported employees, in a ludic way, to the universe of literature. At the event, employees engaged in games, books were distributed, and there were prizes from raffles. This was the atmosphere of the event that encouraged the search for knowledge, organized by the Social Responsibility team of Atlântico Sul Shipyard (EAS).
“The event lasted two days, and on Friday it was attended by old time employees and newly-admitted ones that came from different parts of Brazil and are presently undergoing the integration process at the company,” declared Social Assistant of EAS, Carmen Albuquerque.
Employees had a chance to participate in various games, such as, word scrabble, spelling, and sentence completion. Those taking part in the games received two educational books and participated in the raffle of prizes. “To become strong one must train the muscles, whereas to become smarter one must train the brain,” commented Business Assistant, Gleydson Goes. Welders Lucas Rodrigues and Wagner Silva were the lucky ones to win, respectively, a 4GB pen drive and a digital camera.
The event was accomplished through a partnership with SESC (BiblioSesc project) and was attended by Art Professor Paulo André Viana, also known as Pixulinga, who invited the employees to interact with words. “We are demonstrating the importance of reading; it is about understanding the world and the words. It is about communicating” stated Viana.
“Surfing the Waves of Reading” is a program from the Social Responsibility Area of EAS which addresses the internal public. It functions as a type of itinerant library and its purpose is to stimulate the habit of reading among company employees.
